Zhongnan Intelligent's Changtai Robot Wins Second Prize in the 2019 Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award

On the morning of June 10, the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Awards Conference was held, announcing and honoring the winning projects of the 2019 Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Awards. The project "Key Technologies and Complete Equipment for Flexible Production Lines of High-End Intelligent Casting Robots," undertaken by Zhongnan Intelligent's subsidiary Changsha Changtai Robot Co., Ltd. ("Changtai Robot"), won the Second Prize of the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

The project addresses key pain points in the casting industry — including production lines with numerous process steps, complex operating procedures, frequent task switching, high efficiency requirements for mixed-line production, and harsh casting environments. Developed by Changtai Robot over many years in collaboration with universities including Changsha University of Science and Technology and Hunan University, the project fills a domestic technology gap. Its core breakthroughs include key technologies for intelligent casting perception combining high-precision laser and vision fusion, and key control technologies for high-speed, high-efficiency precision grinding of castings. The project also developed a flexible control system that optimizes the entire process of precision-casting robot production lines. It has been granted 21 national invention patents, with 14 more invention patent applications under substantive examination, along with 17 granted utility model patents and 7 registered computer software copyrights. The project's technology and equipment are now in use at more than 40 domestic equipment manufacturers, including Dongfeng Motor, Weichai Power, the Shanghai Institute of Aerospace Precision Machinery, CRRC Corporation Limited, Anhui Heli Hefei Casting & Forging Factory, and Wuxi FAW Foundry.
