Hunan Zhongnan Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. was established in December 2017 as a provincial-level comprehensive service platform for artificial intelligence and intelligent robotics. With intelligent robots, industrial AI agents, and ultra-precision laser equipment as its core products, the company is committed to becoming a world-class provider of industrial intelligence solutions and a comprehensive service platorm.The company is among the first batch of national key "Little Giant" enterprises, recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as an industry-leading enterprise under key national support, and serves as a key-node enterprise in China's key manufacturing industry chains. It is also the founding president unit of the Hunan Intelligent Manufacturing Association and the designated "chain leader" enterprise of Changsha's artificial intelligence and robotics industry chain.

2008

Entered the rail transit industry through a contract with China South Locomotive (CSR);

Established a robotics engineering center under China National Light Industry Group.

2010

Entered the automotive industry with the Geely Auto project;

Established Changsha Changtai Robot Co., Ltd.

2011

The "robotic welding technology integration system for super-large components" was funded by MOST's Innovation Fund for Technology-based SMEs.

2012

Delivered Asia's largest foundry production line for ‌Chongqing Machinery & Electric Co., Ltd.‌;

Established an academician workstation with Academician Pan Jiluan's team of Tsinghua University for joint R&D on flexible robotic production lines.

2014

Won the Silver Award of the IEEE IERA (Invention and Entrepreneurship in Robotics and Automation) Award — the first Chinese robotics company to win the award.

2015

Developed a robotic grinding and finishing line for engine cylinder blocks and cylinder heads — recognized as Hunan Province's first-of-its-kind major technical equipment.

2016

"Changsha No. 1", Hunan's first industrial robot with independent intellectual property rights, rolled off the production line.

2017

In November, established a shareholding platform for executives and core staff;

In December, Huasheng Group, the executive shareholding platform, and Yuhua Economic Development Zone jointly founded Hunan Zhongnan Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd.

2018

In January, acquired Changsha Changtai Robot Co., Ltd.

In March, co-founded the Hunan Industry 4.0 Innovation Center with Siemens, building a provincial intelligent manufacturing service platform based on digital twin technology.

2019

In January, founded an industrial technology subsidiary and began developing industrial internet capabilities

In April, founded a laser technology subsidiary with equity investment from Academician Lu Bingheng's team to tackle bottleneck technologies in laser galvanometers;

In June, approved for a MOST National Key R&D Program project;

In September, won a project under MIIT's Industrial Internet Innovation and Development Program;

In December, approved as a Pilot Demonstration Enterprise for Manufacturing "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" Platforms.

2020

In May, signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Huawei and established the Huawei & Zhongnan Intelligent national industrial-sector headquarters;

In September, completed a first-round equity financing of over RMB 100 million, becoming the first unlisted company in which the National Manufacturing Transformation and Upgrading Fund served as lead investor;

In November, recognized as an MIIT "Little Giant" enterprise and a National Quality Benchmark, nominated for the 6th Hunan Governor's Quality Award, and co-founded Anhui Conch Zhongnan Intelligent Robot Co., Ltd.

2021

In March, named among the first batch of winners of the MIIT Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Challenge;

In April, upgraded the industrial technology subsidiary into the Industrial AI Agent Innovation Research Institute;

In May, selected into the first batch of national key "Little Giant" enterprises;

In July, approved to establish a postdoctoral collaborative R&D center;

In December, the MIIT industrial internet project passed acceptance.

2022

In March, selected into the State Council's list of sci-tech reform demonstration enterprises;

In July, established an academician workstation with Academician Chen Xiaohong's team;

In September, the Zhongnan Intelligent Postdoctoral Research Station was officially inaugurated.;

In November, the MOST National Key R&D Program project passed final acceptance.

2023

In March, the new Zhongnan Intelligent Industrial Park was topped out;

In April, rated "Excellent" among SASAC sci-tech reform demonstration enterprises;

In October, the Chen Xiaohong academician workstation was approved as a Hunan Academician-Expert Workstation;

In December, led the 2023 National Key R&D Program project "Robot Process Knowledge Graph Generation and Offline Programming Software Platform".

2024

In February, jointly established the Digital Intelligence R&D Center with the China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City Institute of Advanced Technology, bringing the company's total number of innovation platforms to ten;

In April, Changtai Robot led a National Key R&D Program project on intelligent robotics;

In June, won First Prize of the Hunan Science and Technology Progress Award;

In July, rated an "Excellent Sci-Tech Reform Demonstration Enterprise" by SASAC for the second time;

In September, led one of Hunan's eight major sci-tech research projects, "Embodied AI Large-Model Platform for Industrial Robots: Research and Demonstration";

In October, the Zhongnan Intelligent Industrial Park became fully operational.

2025

In January, the Zhongnan Intelligent Central Research Institute was founded and unveiled by Academician Chen Xiaohong;

In December, selected for MIIT's 2025 Intelligent Manufacturing System Solutions open competition program;

In December, the company's embodied AI large model was selected into the national key products and processes "full-chain" application plan;

In December, Sichuan Zhongnan Intelligent Laser Technology Co., Ltd. relocated to Mianyang.

Overview of the Innovation Center

To comprehensively elevate the development level of China’s manufacturing sector, align with global trends in smart manufacturing (Industry 4.0), accelerate integration into the global smart manufacturing innovation ecosystem, and respond to the “Made in China 2025” initiative and the 13th Five-Year Plan, while leveraging Hunan Province and Changsha’s strategic positioning as a hub for advanced manufacturing in Central China, we aim to upgrade both Changsha and Hunan Province into national R&D centers for advanced manufacturing. Under the new normal, this will foster an upgraded model of industrial transformation and upgrading, drive the industrial structure toward mid‑to‑high‑end, green, and intelligent manufacturing, and support the implementation of Hunan Province and Changsha’s strategies for developing smart manufacturing and advancing the integration of informatization and industrialization.

Innovation Center Blueprint

The Intelligent Manufacturing Capability Center will be built to align with the advanced principles of Industry 4.0, leveraging Siemens’ proven expertise and capabilities in digital factory technologies, while addressing the specific needs of the manufacturing sector in Changsha and Hunan Province. The center will fully embody the two core concepts of the Digital Twin—validation through production and physicality as data—integrating both virtual software components and physical production lines.
